today I would like to share with you a layout with a background paper that I made by myself. Usually, I use white cardstock as a background, hardly any patterned paper. But a couple of weeks ago, I bought a black, matt acrylic paint which I haven't used so far, so I thought why not try it to make a polka dot paper?
Here's what the layout looks like:
To create the polka dots, I used the bottom of a big pen, dipped in the acrylic paint, and then "stamped" on white cardstock. Pretty simple, right?
I don't mind that the polka dots are not perfect at all - I mean, hey, they are self made!
After the paint was dry, I grabbed some paper scraps and embellishments that I wanted to use for the layout. Mostly from the Crate Paper "Carousel" collection - which I still love so much - and began to layer the scraps, matted the black and white photo and then added the embellishments.
I really love the combination of black and white with some pastell colours like light pink and blue - I guess that's one of my all time favorites, because it makes layouts look so soft and elegant.
And you can never go wrong with some washi tape and gold splatters, right?
I hope I coud inspire and encourage you to create your own background paper.
Have a nice, crafty day!
