Giftbox with mini-layouts - Por Else

Hello everyone! Thank you for joining me today, I hope you are all doing well.
It is my sisters birthday soon and I wanted to make her something special. The past year has been great for her and I want to create something that will help her remember the highlights.
I've made a little box with eight mini scrapbook layouts. Here's how I made it:

First I started by selecting papers. I selected all sorts of papers from different collections. This way I could use a whole bunch of different embellishments for my mini-layouts, so they all have a different look. You can also choose papers from one collection, to be sure everything goes together.

My layouts are A5 size, so I made the template for the box a few millimeters bigger (approx. 11,0 cm x 15,5 cm). I made the small sides of the box 2,5 cm wide. On one of the short sides of the back of the box, I drew a larger flap, so it folds over the box. Don't forget a strip at one side for adhering the box together.
If you are not comfortable drawing your own box, you can find templates on the internet. Then, cut it out!
Patterned paper is pretty thick, but to make the box firmer you can adhere some thin cardboard to the insides of the box.

To make clean and easy folds, make sure you run over the folding lines with a bonefolder. After that, it's easy to fold to box into shape. Adhere the two sides together with glue or sticky tape on the extra strip.
I made some holes in de box and threaded some faux leather twine through, so I can tie the box closed. You could also use brads, buttons, washitape or magnets to make a closure. I selected the photo's I wanted to use and cut the papers to size. There's some pretty patterned paper, an acetate piece and regular white cardstock.

Now it's time for scrapbooking, but downsizing everything! There is not much room for embellishing, so I really liked the challenge. I used different techniques and materials on every layout. For a more cohesive look, you could use the same materials on all your layouts.

Ater the layouts are done, all there's left to do, is to embellish the box. I used some chipboard pieces, stickers, Heidi Swapp gold colorshine and some tiny word stickers.

I hope you like this idea for a homemade giftbox, maybe you'll give it a try. Have fun creating and be sure to share your work with us! XO Else
